The Ondoy calamity last year hit so many people including our very own major supporter – the famous Manny Baldemor. His residence in Pasig was not spared. A significant 80% of his belongings were destroyed, including some of his art works.
|
|
It is fortunate however that Professor Bobby Mariano has with him some of MB’s art works in Singapore. These exclusive paintings are now available for sale for a very limited period only, and this is all for a cause. Part of the proceeds will go towards the scholarship programmes of SMU School of Economics and UPAAS.

Prof Bobby has some 50 MB paintings. For those interested to see the paintings, pls email him at rsmariano@smu.edu.sg for a viewing appointment.

To support this year’s Philippine Independence Day Celebration theme of “Malayang Manggagawa, Kaagapay sa Pag-unlad”, UPAAS is organizing a forum for domestic workers in Singapore. Presented by the Philippine Bayanihan Society of Singapore and the Embassy of the Philippines in Singapore, in collaboration with UPAAS, the forum aims to present available training courses and other services to help Filipino domestic workers save and plan for a life with their families after their contracts finish. The forum will also explore the impact of freedom, training and employer support to the domestic helpers’ lives, as highlighted by inspiring stories that will be shared by two participants. The forum will take shape in a 3 hour programme:
Light lunch will be served during the Q & A. Materials on training and support options will be distributed to the participants after the programme. A shuttle bus will pick up participants from Buona Vista MRT Exit B pick-up point between 8:45 and 9:00 am. As seating is limited to 50 participants, please RSVP to upaas@ymail.com if you would like to send your house helpers to the forum. |
