UPAAS successfully conducted its AlumNite at the Balmoral Residences on 22nd May 2013. Fifty members attended said event. AlumNite is an orientation program, which aims to introduce UPAAS to all UP alumni in Singapore and to provide platform for the UP Alumni to network.
Ms. Mary Ann Arguillas-Chua, the first president of UPAAS, welcomed the attendees and explained the role of UPAAS in the society and the reasons the organization was created. It was followed by the Management Committee (ManCom) chairs who presented the different committees of the organization, their roles and projects. President Ed Vinluan closed the discussion with the objects of the constitution.
The event also launched the UPAAS members directory, a database of members where they can self update their records, search fellow members and view their own payments transactions. It was also a heads-up of the EZLink design and the 10th year anniversary design.
The event was organized by the UPAAS Management Committee.

H.E. Ambassador Minda Calaguian-Cruz administered the oath taking of the newly elected officers of the UP Alumni Association Singapore (UPAAS) on 19th May 2013 at the Philippine Bayanihan Centre. The ceremony was held prior to the monthly meeting of the Filipino Community. The event was witnessed by different Filipino organizations and Philippine Embassy officials as well.
In her remarks, Ambassador Cruz thanked UPAAS for its continued support to the Filipino community. She commended the UPAAS scholarship program which produced three graduates, and four scholars currently enrolled in different courses. She challenged the newly elected leaders to create new and innovative projects for this year’s 10th year celebration.
UPAAS is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year and the management committee has prepared yearlong activities for the members and the community.
The University of the Philippines Alumni Association (Singapore), successfully held its two part Annual General Meeting. The first part was held on 10th March 2013 at the MDIS and the follow up meeting on 6th April 2013 at Philippine Bayanihan Centre. The meeting was the 10th AGM of the organization.
Outgoing President Kenneth Innocencio opened the meeting and the outgoing management committee – officers and the committee heads – outlined the projects launched and implemented during the year. Among the notable projects presented were the series of Oblation Talks which were well attended by the community. Past Presidents Mary Ann Chua, Portia Ho, Minerva Lau and Ed Vinluan were also present in the said event.
