The University of the Philippines Alumni Association of Singapore (UPAAS) recently participated in the porridge distribution event organized by the People’s Association and Malay Activity Executive Committees (MAECs), in collaboration with Immigrant Associations (IA) and Junior Neighbourhood Ambassadors (JNA). The series of events, which took place during the Ramadan month from 25 March to 21 April 2023, aimed to reach out to the local communities and promote the spirit of giving and helping.

Seven (7) UPAAS members volunteered in one of the porridge distribution runs.

The Porridge Distribution projects were started in 2015 under the “Happy Project” community service initiative and have been well-received by partners and participants. The UPAAS members appreciated the opportunity to learn more about the local culture while serving the community.

The projects were held in the afternoon or evening, before the breaking of fast at about 7pm, and each project had about several volunteers more than the expected turnout.
