UPAAS AlumNite – Beats & Bites

UPAAS AlumNite – Beats & Bites

What a night of music, fun and laughter!

34 UPAAS members and friends gathered on this night, full of enthusiasm to share their talent in singing and dancing and sharing the common thread that binds us in the foreign land. We definitely know how to have fun, be it a classic, mellow or a high belting song or dancing to “Pantropiko”.

AlumNite – Beats & Bites, a UPAAS gathering for fellow alumni and friends,  was held in The Upper Room Restaurant & Café last 24 May 2024. The event officially started with an opening remark from our UPAAS President Janelle Lim-Kanna. She introduced UPAAS eCard to enjoy the benefits of being UPAAS member such as discounts to Max’s Restaurant and Don Lechon. Yum!

She also discussed our continued support for our scholarship program. Check out this link to join our ‘Skip the Café’ initiative – https://bit.ly/SkipTheCafe, which highlights the importance of small contributions which collectively can make a significant impact. 😊

Our own UPAAS band members, John Rosado III (guitar), GJ Gonzales (drums), Dianne Rivas (keyboards), set the ball rolling for the party time. Their curated playlist, brought to life by our special guest, Jeichiel Palomar, with her sensational vocals, got everyone singing and dancing. The fun and energy in the room was contagious that some people outside the event joined the jamming and sang with the band. That “Gusto Ko Nang Bumitaw” by Lorybeth Baldrias was on another level!

The talent of the band was followed by a game of Kahoot based on trivia of our own alma mater, University of Philippines, and our new home, Singapore. The questions turned competitiveness into nostalgic moments right away. It was a reminder of our purpose of forming UPAAS and what makes us reach out to our fellow UP alumni here in Singapore.

We are thankful to everyone who joined us! You made the event successful and a memorable one. Special thanks to Tricia Dimaano and Niña Angela Reyes for sponsoring drinks and to The Upper Room for delicious food and perfect venue. The enthusiasm of the new committee elected in March 2024 made a big contribution to this event. UPAAS is committed to reunite UP alumni with more fun and meaningful events. Rock and roll!
